OUR FEATURED ARTICLE:
What To Charge When Catering Tea Parties

Many of you have asked me what to charge if you want to cater tea parties. Much of what you charge depends on where you live and where you will be catering these tea parties. If you live in Southern California, you will be able to charge more than if you lived where I live, Reno, Nevada.
I think that a good starting point is to charge for a party of 4 or fewer. It doesn't matter if there are only two people. You still have to do as much work as you would for a party of 4 so you should charge the same price. I would charge $250-300. If there are more than 4 people, I would add $25-30 per person more. For a party of 8 or 12, you might have a price and then add per person charges for over 8 or over 12.
Also, add 18% gratuity. I found most people don't give a tip, so you should add one, especially if you have employees helping you. It doesn't matter if the employees are related to you, you should also be able to pay them with a tip.
Again, you will have to adjust this figure depending on where you live. I hope this helps you setting your rates. Remember, you work hard and you should be compensated for it.
Good luck and let me know if this is helpful.
NEW MARKETING TIP
Piggyback off events that are taking place locally in your area. For instance, hot air balloon races could be balloon tea or bubble tea. Be creative.
SUBMIT A TIP
Pnk Guru submitted this tip: Tea is available in plenty of kinds and
varieties. All the teas are not consistent in color, taste and flavor. To
maintain desirable quantum of color, taste and aroma you need to know the
scientific tea blending techniques.
"Tea Taster" is the very first book on these scientific tea tasting and
blending techniques that assure a best tea of course with economy too.

QUESTION FROM MY EMAIL BAG
Do I need insurance if I cater tea parties?
My answer to that qestion is yes. I carried a $1 million liability policy. It cost about $650 per year. You need to discuss this with your insurance agent. You don't want someone to sue you for food poisoning.
