BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Section 2 is background information and should include your Mission Statement, your business goals and objectives, and a general description of your business. The personal information you provide will help you focus on what experiences you bring to the business. You will be amazed at what personal skills and experiences you have when you sit down and begin to list them. Everything you have done during your lifetime will be a basis for your personal information section and the business concept section. Your business concept is the place where you can express your personal love of tea and what you want to derive from operating your tea business.

A. Personal Information

Personal Profile of Skills and Experience

List all your qualifications here along with all of your experiences. Include any volunteer work you have done and any organizations or boards you have belonged to including holding any offices. List any skills you have.

Personal Financial Capability Statement

What kind of finances are you personally bringing to your business startup?

B. Business Concept

Statement of Purpose (Mission Statement)

Give a statement of why your are opening your business.

Business Goals and Objectives

Short Term Goals: List when you plan on having your business operating and how you plan to get to that point. State where you plan to be at the end of your first year and how you will achieve that goal. List how you plan on being the best at what you do. By what percentage do you plan on growing your business each year and how do you plan to grow it?

Long Term Goals: Where do you plan on being at the end of three years? five years? What do you expect your profit to be by that time? How do you plan on achieving that goal?

General Description of Business:

Describe your business in detail, such as, if it is a tea room will you also have retail? tea classes? special teas? etc. What is the market for tea in your area?

Will you be a sole proprietor, partnership, LLC, etc. This section on background information, personal information, personal skills and experience is just the building block for your business plan. You can express your love for tea in the business concept section in your mission statement.

Section 3 Description of Products The description of products and services will include the features, benefits, and future of your proposed products and services.

Section 4 Management Structure and Organization The Management Structure and Organization section includes the form of ownership, personnel, organizational chart, and outside services and advisors.

Section 5 Marketing Plan The marketing plan includes market strategies, target markets, current and future trends, and marketing tactics.

Section 6 Financial Plan The financial plan section includes startup costs, cash flow projections, Sales and expenses estimates, and financial needs.

Section 7 Conclusion The conclusion will include a feasibility statement and and action plan.

Business Plan A business plan is critical when opening a tea room and will help you to begin maximizing your profits. Keeping expenses down, especially startup costs, will give you extra cash later.
